National Weather Service Issues Wind Advisory

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for Macomb County.

A wind advisory for Macomb County has been issued until 8 p.m., cautioning residents about southwest winds up to 50 mph.

The National Weather Service issued the hazardous weather warning at 11:45 a.m. for numerous counties, including Wayne, Macomb, Washtenaw, Lenawee and Lapeer.

According to the DTE outage map, nearly 200 customers in St. Clair Shores are without power. The greatest number of affected homes are in a cluster near Stephens and Harper.

Weather in this area is expected to remain strong until the early evening. In the meantime, the National Weather Service is anticipating these types of impacts:

  • Downed tree limbs
  • Power outages
  • Loose objects, such as trash cans, will be blown around 

It is suggested that residents secure objects around the home and exercise caution when driving in strong winds.
