Lakeview Boys Basketball Wins City Tournament

The Lakeview Huskies defeated cross-town rivals South Lake and Lake Shore to win the City Tournament.

The Lakeview Huskies are city champions in boys basketball.

The Huskies defeated the Cavaliers 62-23 Dec. 18, and the Shorians 66-43 Dec. 19 en route to winning the City Tournament.

The following are statistics from the games:

Lakeview 66 Lake Shore 43

  • Robert Shields had 23 points, four steals and four rebounds and Alex Radu had five points and eight rebounds to lead the Huskies in the game played Dec. 19.
  • Hunter Holcomb and Justin Navarra led the Shorians with 10 points each.
  • Lakeview is off until Jan. 8, when they take on Marine City.
  • Lake Shore (2-3, 0-1): Justin Navarra 10, Jon Brown 3, Marcus Barnett 3, Michael Swarthout 4, Michael Burnett 1, Brandon Muraszewski 7, Jaylin Harris 2, Kevin Sterling 3, Hunter Holcomb 10. 
  • Lakeview (5-0, 2-0): Allen Macdonald 2, Joe Habrowski 7, Dlaino Paige 4, Alex Radu 5, Marquis Jones 12, Robert Shields 23, Gary Tilney 4, Conner Luke 3, Eric Cass 6. 

Lakeview 62 South Lake 23

  • Robert Shields had 24 points and eight steals to lead the Huskies (1-0, 4-0), who forced 34 turnovers as a team. Joe Habrowski chipped in 12 points and Gary Tilney added eight in the game played Dec. 18.
  • South Lake (0-2) got eight points each from Anthony Terry and Damone Tillman.
  • Lakeview (1-0, 4-0): Allen Macdonald 2, Joe Habrowski 12, Chris Waldorf 2, Dlaino Paige 2, Alex Radu 2, Marquis Jones 6, Robert Shields 24, Gary Tilney 8, Eric Cass 4.
  • South Lake (0-1, 0-2): Anthony Terry 8, Damaris Heard 5, Jeff Golden 2, Damone Tillman 8.
