Lake Shore Loses Soccer Match in Overtime
Shorians lose in overtime thriller in first-round district soccer game.
Regina's girls soccer team defeated 2-1 Wednesday night in an overtime, first-round district playoff game.
Regina scored first with 35 seconds left in the first half. Lake Shore struck back nine minutes into the second half when Aleesha Kiesgen scored off a corner from Jordan Morgan. Kelsey Kusch had the assist.
The game remained tied through regulation and went into overtime. A MHSAA rule calls for two, 10-minute overtime periods.

After a scoreless first period, Regina scored off a corner kick that was deflected with a header and got past Amanda Lipscomb.
"She was outstanding tonight coming up with 27 saves. I am very proud of my teams efforts," said Lake Shore coach George Spiteri. "They worked so hard in less the desirable playing conditions with the warm muggy weather. A bounce this way, or that (way), and we could have have got the win, but we had some good bounces that kept us in the game as well."
