Jefferson Middle School Celebrates Pi Day

Some people see March 14 as just another day on the calendar. But for math teachers, engineers, scientists and others, today is also known as Pi day.

Students at joined math enthusiasts around the world in celebrating Pi Day.

March 14, or 3-14, shares its numerical connection with Pi, the Greek letter which represents the symbol for the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter, according to www.piday.org.

Students at Jefferson measured a variety of round objects including pancakes, cupcakes and cookies and then used Pi (which is equal to 3.1415926535…) to figure out circumference and area of the items. Once they completed their tasks, they were able to enjoy the treats.
