Huskies Return to Elementary School to Read to Students

Lakeview High School students returned to their roots Monday to read to elementary school students as part of

Lakeview High School student athletes put on their jerseys Monday and visited elementary schools in district as part of March is Reading Month.

High school teacher Matthew Barranca came up with the idea to have the athletes read to students in the four elementary schools. He worked with elementary school reading specialist Catherine Rustoni and Ann Marie Maccani to schedule the visit of the 40 athletes to the schools.

Barranca said it was his goal to inspire the younger students and show them that reading is "cool."
