Hunter Safety Program

The St. Clair Shores Police Department and the Shorewood Kiwanis Club are co-sponsoring the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Hunter Safety Program.

This is mandatory training for anyone born after Jan. 1, 1960, who wants to purchase a Michigan hunting license or will be hunting in another state or Canada.

The program is two days, 7:30 a.m. - 4 p.m. Sept. 17 and 8 a.m. - 4p.m. Sept. 18, and attendance on both days is mandatory.

Pre-registration is required. Forms can be obtained at the St. Clair Shores Police Department, 27665 Jefferson, beginning Sept. 1. The class is limited to the first 100 registrants.

Classes consist of indoor and outdoor exercises, and students should dress for the weather on both days.

Attendees should also bring a bag lunch for both days. 

Parents are encouraged to attend both classes with their children. Parental attendance is not required unless their child is under 12-years-old.
