George Allen Jr. Honors Father and Leads "Three Cheers for Lake Shore" at Hall of Fame Ceremony

The son of Lake Shore High School alumnus, and Pro Football Hall of Fame member, George Allen returned to his father's hometown for a special "Hometown Hall of Famer" ceremony.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame came to Lake Shore High School in St. Clair Shores Tuesday to honor George Allen, a Shorian and Hall of Fame member.

The ceremony was part of national Hometown Hall of Famers program sponsored by Allstate Insurance, which honors members of the Hall of Fame in their hometowns.

Allen's son George Allen Jr., a former governor of Virginia, represented the family at ceremony in Lake Shore's gymnasium that was attended by students, local dignitaries and Thomas J. Wilson, president and chief executive officer of The Allstate Corporation and Allstate Insurance Company who is also a Lake Shore graduate.

During the presentation Allen spoke warmly about the influence of St. Clair Shores and Lake Shore High School on his father, and how some cheers followed him all the way to the National Football League and the Washington Redskins.
