St Isaac Jogues Junior Varsity Football Team Clinches Class D Division Championship Title

St Isaac Jogues Junior Varsity Football Team clinched the CYO Class D Division Championship Title with their 28 to 0 victory over The Saints of Ann Arbor on Saturday.

St Isaac Jogues Junior Varsity Football Team clinched the CYO Class D Division Championship Title with their 28-0 victory over The Saints of Ann Arbor Saturday.

“The team is doing remarkable well this season; the backs work great as a team. If they are not running the ball they are block.” Steve Graham said in an interview after the game. He gave praises to the offensive and defensive lines. “The Saints coaches were really impressed with how disciplined our lineman were on both sides of the ball.”

Quarterback Emilio Esparza, number 10, rallied the team to their fourth victory of the season, bringing their record to 4-0.

Number 22, Kamren Johnson, led the team in touchdowns with three. His
longest was from midfield, a 53-yard scoring run.

Evan Rochon, Number 24, scored the team's other touchdown, a 34-yard stroll to the end zone. He also had one interception on the day.

Defensively Klayton Cornell, number 91, was all over the field. Klayton led the team in tackles and recovered a fumble.

Number 53, Dominic Tiseo, also had an outstanding defensive day with a number of tackles, one interception and a fumble recovery.

Honorable mention, number 28, Jacob Caruso played a great game selfishly clearing the way for his fellow running backs.

Next week the Chargers JV go into their bye-week and will be gearing up for their
Crossover game that will be played at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 29, at Lakeview High School. All are welcome, so come out to cheer them to victory.  

Don’t forget that the Chargers Freshman and Varsity Football Teams both have games on Sunday, Sept. 23, at home. The Freshman host Redford Catholic
game time 4 p.m., and the Varsity is set to kickoff at 6:30 p.m. welcoming the University of Detroit Jesuit Academy.
