Weekend Road Construction Update
Drivers should be prepared for slow traffic on I-696 at Van Dyke due to bridge work.
The Michigan Department of Transportation is planning roadwork and lane restrictions throughout Metro Detroit this weekend.
I-696:
In Macomb County, from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday, westbound I-696 will be reduced to a single lane at Van Dyke Avenue for ongoing bridge work.

M-39 (Southfield Freeway):
In Detroit, southbound M-39 will be closed from I-96 to Ford Road from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday. Ramps to southbound M-39 from Grand River Avenue and I-96 will begin closing at 8 p.m. Friday. During the full closure, all traffic will be detoured to Telegraph Road. By 5 a.m. Monday, the single lane southbound from I-96 to Ford Road will open to traffic, including the ramps from Grand River and eastbound and westbound I-96 to southbound M-39.

I-94:
In Detroit, bridge maintenance will require the right and center lanes of westbound I-94 to be closed at Chene Street (just east of I-75) from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday.
I-96:
In Oakland County, the installation of permanent pavement markings will result in the closure of the left two on eastbound and westbound I-96, between M-5 and Beck Road, from 9 p.m. Friday until 2 p.m. Saturday. From 2 p.m. Saturday until 8 p.m. Sunday, only the right lane will be closed in each direction.
I-75:
In Oakland County, as a reminder, the ramp from northbound I-75 to westbound M-59 is closed and detoured until the end of June for repairs.
I-275:
In Wayne County, the right two lanes of southbound I-275 will be closed from 5 Mile Road to Koppernick Road for resurfacing work and bridge maintenance at Koppernick from 8 p.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Sunday.
In Wayne County, the left two lanes of northbound and southbound I-275 will be closed between I-94 and Ecorse Road for pavement repairs from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
US-24 (Telegraph Road):
In Oakland County, northbound and southbound Telegraph Road will be closed between Dixie Highway and County Center Drive (north of Waterford) from 8 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday.
M-1 (Woodward Avenue):
In Oakland County, the right lane of northbound Woodward Avenue will be closed at Bowers Street in Birmingham for permit work from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
M-5:
In Oakland County, northbound and southbound M-5 will be closed at Pontiac Trail for 15 minutes between 6 and 7 a.m. on Sunday to string a new cable.
M-59:
In Oakland County, eastbound and westbound M-59 will be reduced to a single lane between Crooks and Ryan roads from 5 a.m. Saturday to 9 p.m. Sunday.
