Weekend Planner: Oktoberfest, Wigs 4 Kids Chili Cook Off and Circare Anniversary

Looking for something to do this weekend? Patch has some suggestions:

  • The Grosse Pointe North High School Girls Cross Country Team will hold a fun run and walk fundraiser for cancer from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Grosse Pointe North High School. Carmen Kennedy, Grosse Pointe North’s former Athletic Director, and now principal of South Lake High School, will be speaking about her personal battle with breast cancer before the walk.
  • The St. Isaac Jogues will hold its annual Oktoberfest Saturday with inflatables for kids, poker tent, entertainment and food from local restaurants. 
  • Circare is celebrating its 25th anniversary Saturday with 15 percent off everything in the store. There will also be a birthday cake taste-fest from noon - 5 p.m. with cakes, cupcakes, tortes and tartlets.
  • The Fire Department Open House will be held from noon-4 p.m. Sunday and will feature fall refreshments, a smokehouse, fire safety information, a chance to meet Sparky the Fire Dog.
  • The Wigs 4 Kids 2nd Annual Chili Cook-off Sunday will feature a number of styles of chili for the fundraiser for the St. Clair Shores-based charity.
