Vendor Spots Still Available for Active Aging Summit

Nonprofits, businesses that serve seniors and local organizations can still participate in the inaugural event.

Organizers of the city's first Active Aging Summit still have vendor spots available for businesses and organizations in the Shores and beyond.

The event, which is presented by the , is intended to be a one-stop shop of information and services for seniors in the Shores, Pointes and throughout Macomb County.

Sue Fickau, senior center coordinator, stated that vendors can range from businesses or individuals that sell products to grandparents to ones that sell items that seniors might purchase for their grandchildren. Other vendors might be organizations that offer volunteer opportunities to seniors or food vendors.

"This is a great way to promote the senior center and bring together everyone who offers great things for seniors," said Fickau. "This is a win-win for everybody."

The summit will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12 at . The free event is open to Macomb County and is expected to draw about 1,000 people.

In addition to the traditional offerings, Fickau is encouraging vendors to have interactive activities and "engagement between participants and vendors."

"The more creative you are, the more you will capture your audience," she added.
