St. Clair Shores City Council to Interview City Manager Candidates

Four candidates will be interviewed by members of the St. Clair Shores City Council for the vacant city manager position.

Candidates for the vacant city manager position will interviewed by City Council members on July 25 and 26.

The four finalists were selected from a pool of over 30 applicants for the position.

The four who will be interviewed are:

  • James Creech, the Oakland Township manager
  • John Gabor, the current city manager of Marine City
  • Phillip Ludos, Saginaw assistant city manager for public safety
  • James Palenick, interim town manager in Dallas, N.C. 
St. Clair Shores City Council will interview the candidates in meetings at 5:30 p.m. Thursday July 25 and Friday July 26. City Council is scheduled to select a city manager at a special meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, July 29.

The city hired the Mercer Group to conduct the nationwide city manager search to fill the vacancy left following the resignation by Ben Hughes on Nov. 1. Assistant City Manager Mike Smith has been serving as city manager since Hughes' departure.
