St. Clair Shores Resident Appointed New County I.T. Director

Sandy Jurek was selected from a pool of more than 84 people to become the new Macomb County information technology director.

St. Clair Shores resident Sandy Jurek has been hired as the new information technology director for Macomb County. 

Jurek, who will oversee a 32-person department, will start with Macomb County Aug. 20.

"I am confident based upon the selection process that Sandy is the perfect person to keep Macomb County moving forward in the technology realm," said Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel in a release. "We took great care to find a good fit for the position and Sandy is it."

She was selected from a pool of more than 84 people who applied for the position. Jurek comes to Macomb County from Oakland County, where she served as a consultant with Oakland County’s eGovernment unit for the past 12 years.

She held a variety of roles with Oakland County including chief strategist, project manager and usability specialist for numerous areas in the Department of Information Technology. Jurek most recently managed the development and implementation of Oakland County's G2G Cloud Solutions Initiative, which provides technology services to governments of all sizes across the state of Michigan.

Jurek, a Central Michigan University graduate, previously was the production and marketing director for Gyro Design Group, web and publications editor for Detroit Public Television, director of MetroTimes.com, and senior editor at Gale Publishing Group. 

“Ms. Jurek is someone who has a reputation for implementing innovative technology,” said Macomb County Clerk/Register of Deeds Carmella Sabaugh in a release. “The Macomb County Executive’s Office has made an excellent choice and I applaud their decision."
