Selfridge Announces Air Show Performers

Organizers of the Selfridge Air National Guard Air Show release the names of aircraft that will streak across the skies and performers who will entertain spectators on the ground.

A mix of the old and the new will be on display in the air and on the ground next month at the Selfridge Air National Guard Base Air Show and Open House.

Two Navy F/A-18 Super Hornets similar to the jets that flew over the lakefront during this past weekend for the Races are scheduled to appear at the free air show Aug. 20-21 along with the Air Force's new F-22 Raptor.

"The addition of these high-performance Navy aircraft also highlights the joint nature of the Selfridge community," said Lt. Col. Sean Campbell, director of the Selfridge Air Show, in a release.

Additionally, the rocker Eddie Money will perform at the annual Friday Night Hangar Party. The party will be held on Aug. 19, the night before the air show opens.

"The Hangar Party is a great kick-off to the air show weekend," Campbell said in a release. "It provides an opportunity for friends of the base to meet many of the air show pilots and support personnel at the dinner and then enjoy some great music, right on the edge of the ramp.”
