Nearly two dozen members of the Michigan Air National Guard stationed at Selfridge Air National Base have been deployed to a base in southwest Asia.
According to a release, the members of the National Guard will be deployed for four months and will provide security to U.S. and allied air operations while deployed.
“Our Security Forces members, in teams like this and periodically as individuals, have been called upon many times over the past several years to support operations both domestically and overseas,” said Capt. Christopher Platz, commander of the 127th SFS at Selfridge, in a release. “While being away from loved ones is always a challenge, our Airmen have repeatedly demonstrated their commitment and dedication to serving our nation and state by answering calls such as this.”
Nearly 500 Airmen from Selfridge have served on some type of deployment during 2013 to locations including Guam, Germany and southwest Asia, according to a release.
