Presidential Primary Ballots Available

Applications for absentee ballots will be mailed out this week for the Feb. 28 for the presidential primary.

Applications for the upcoming presidential primary will be mailed this week, and are available on the city's website.

St. Clair Shores City Clerk Mary A. Kotowski states the Feb. 28 is a closed primary. Voters have to indicate on the application which primary—Republican or Democrat—they will be voting.

If a party is not selected, the city is prohibited by law from sending out a ballot. The ballots are printed by political party and will only include the party candidates of the party you select. The presidential primary is the only election where you must select your party before you are issued a ballot, Kotowski states.

Residents who vote at precincts will also select a party, and will receive a ballot containing the names of presidential candidates names of that political party.

Voters who have questions can call the clerk's office at 586-447-3303.
