Police And Fire Millage Passes, Incumbents Move On To General Election

Voters in St. Clair Shores renewed a three-year police and fire millage and selected six candidates who will appear on the general election ballot.

Voters in St. Clair Shores overwhelming passed the police and fire millage Tuesday, and sent all three incumbents on to the November general election.

Incumbent Peter Rubino received the most votes among the eight City Council candidates.

Rubino credited the "financial stability of the city" for his strong showing.

"We have been able to keep services and not have to increase taxes," Rubino said.

Jack Downey and Michael Odinez were not among the top six vote getters, and will not be on he November ballot.

According to unofficial results, 18.68 percent of registered voters cast ballots in the election.
