Orange Barrel Alert: Roadwork Begins on Harper

County road crews begin sealing cracks on Harper between 9 and 11 Mile roads.

The Macomb County Department of Roads began work Tuesday on sealing cracks on Harper between 9 and 11 Mile roads.

Bob Hoepfner, Macomb County director of roads, said the project should take no more than three days and all work will be conducted during the day.

During the construction project there will be lane closures as crews clean out and seal cracks along the roadway.

The $103,622 project is being split between the city and the county. St. Clair Shores is using funds originally allocated for repaving of Harper between 13 and 15 Mile roads, but the city's cost share was waived by the county.

  • Contractors are pouring the new concrete along the west side of Little Mack. Crews began at 12 Mile and are moving south to 10 Mile.
  • Crews continue asphalt resurfacing and concrete reconstruction on Harper from 13 to 15 Mile. Traffic has been moved to the northbound lanes of the roadway, east of the centerline.
  • Both projects are expected to be completed in September.
