New Game Will Let You Own a Piece of the Shores

Kiwanis and St. Clair Shores Senior Activities Center plan SCSopoly board game.

Residents who have always dreamed of owning a piece of St. Clair Shores will have their chance this summer with the SCSopoly game being developed by the Lac Ste. Claire Kiwanis and the .

The game, which is patterned after the popular real estate board game, will allow players to buy and sell properties across the city.

Each of the locations along the outside of the board has been purchased by groups or organizations to give the game a local feel, and is a unique way to raise funds for the Kiwanis and Senior Center, said Sue Fickau, center coordinator.

"St. Clair Shores has such a long history with businesses that have a legacy in the community," she said of the variety of businesses represented in the game.

Organizers estimate the sale of the properties, patron locations in the center of board and purchase of the games will raise $20,000 for the two organizations.

Some of the unique sponsorships include , which purchased the railroads and will use a logo that plays upon to the dealship's longtime "Stay on the Right Track" jingle, and , which is sponsoring the money for the game.

Fickau said the deadline to purchase a spot in the middle of the board for an individual, business or civic group for $100 is mid-June. The game will be available mid-September.
