Midday Voting Turnout Low in the Shores

Many polling places in St. Clair Shores by noon Tuesday were averaging about 50 votes cast.

Voters in St. Clair Shores have been treated to sunny skies, cool temperatures and short lines this .

Patch visited six precincts Tuesday throughout the Shores, and found most were averaging about 50 ballots cast at each location. The exception was where 99 people had cast votes.

John Nichols was one of the voters at Assumption who called this primary a "very odd election."

"It was a tossup," said Nichols, who ended up voting for Mitt Romney. "I voted for who I thought was the better guy."

On the north side of the city, Sally Rosberg cast her vote for Rick Santorum at .

"Every time I hear Romney say 'Let Detroit go bankrupt,' it makes me furious," Rosberg said. "I don't know if will (vote for Santorum) in the general election."

The polls will remain open until 8 p.m.
