The last of 52 signs have been installed along Interstate 94 in Macomb County to direct resident and visitors to the Lake St. Clair waterfront.
The Macomb County Department of Roads placed signs throughout the county that feature a map of Lake St. Clair, "Circle The Lake Tour" wording and the address for the Tour Lake St. Clair website.
The final signs to be installed were along I-94 to designate marina districts in St. Clair Shores, New Baltimore and Harrison Townships.
“Lake St. Clair is the urban center of the Great Lakes waterway system,” said County Executive Mark Hackel, in a release. “The signs help draw attention to all 31.5 miles of our fine coastline.”
The signs were developed through a collaborative effort by the Lake St. Clair Tourism Initiative and the Macomb County Planning and Economic Development Department.
Installation of the signs began in January and was completed this month. They were placed along roadways including I-94, Jefferson Avenue, 9 Mile Road, Metropolitan Parkway, North River Road and Hall Road to direct drivers to various spots around the lake.
