Macomb County Satellite Office to Help Businesses in St. Clair Shores

The Macomb County Department of Planning and Economic Development opened an office in Eastpointe Wednesday to assist business and communities in the southern end of the county.

Macomb County opened a satellite office Wednesday for the Department of Planning and Economic Development in Eastpointe to assist businesses and communities in the southern end of the county.

The office in Eastpointe City Hall will be staffed two days a week by personnel from the department, and available throughout the week, for businesses and economic development officials to meet.

"This is outreach ... almost like we are knocking on their door," said County Executive Mark Hackel, at the opening of the office which extends the services of the department to city leaders, businesses and individuals in the south end of the county.

Many of the services of the department will be offered in the office including economic and community development assistance, classes, planning and mapping services along with business attraction and retention services.

Diana Martin, general manager of the St. Clair Shores branch, currently directs a number of her clients to Mount Clemens to meet with Planning and Economic Development personnel.

But sending her clients to Mount Clemens, who then have to find a parking spot and walk all the way to county offices, can be an inconvenience for small business owners.

"It is going to be more beneficial to have something on the south end," said Martin, who is also a board member of the Macomb County Chamber of Commerce. "Being able to have a resource close at hand will be priceless."
