Macomb County Names New Health Director

William Ridella has been named Macomb County Health Department director/health officer.

Macomb County has named William Ridella as the director/health officer of the Health Department.

Ridella, whose career started with Macomb County Health Department in 1979, most recently was the deputy director for the City of Detroit’s Department of Health & Wellness Promotion.

“Along with public safety, public health is one of the most important functions of County government,” said Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel, in a release. “Bill Ridella will continue our strong tradition of protecting the health of all Macomb County citizens.”

Ridella holds a master of business administration from Wayne State University, a master of public health from the University of Minnesota, and a bachelor of science in human nutrition from the University of Michigan. His official duties will begin on Monday, Dec. 3

“For over 30 years, Bill has devoted his career to the service of public health,” commented Steve Gold, director of the Department of Health & Community Services, said in a release. “His excellent leadership skills, public health experience and knowledge and dedication to public service combine to make him an outstanding addition to the Health Department’s strong administrative team of Medical Director Dr. Kevin Lokar and Deputy Health Officer Gary White. He will be a valuable addition to the executive management team at the Department of Health & Community Services.”
