Macomb County Beach Closures

High E. coli levels have closed one beach to swimming in Macomb County

The Macomb County Health Department tests the water at six public beaches twice a week for E. coli bacteria. This bacteria lives in the digestive system of humans and warm-blooded animals.

If the levels of E. coli are unsafe (in excess of 300 E. coli colonies per 100 milliliters of water) swimmers could contract minor illnesses, including sore throats or diarrhea.
