Macomb Could Have Four State Senators

Proposed redistricting map could bring changes to the political landscape of Macomb County.

Macomb County’s political landscape could look much different if state Republicans have their way, according to reports in The Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News.

The county could be represented by as many as four state senators under the GOP’s redistricting plan, according to the News report.

St. Clair Shores would be included in a district that includes Chesterfield Township, Mount Clemens, Harrison Township, Shelby Township, Utica, Washington Township, Ray Township, Bruce Township, and Lenox Township.

Another district would encompass Warren, Center Line, Eastpointe, Roseville, Fraser and the southern half of Clinton Township.

A third district would include Macomb Township, Sterling Heights and the northern half of Clinton Township.

New Baltimore would be part of a fourth district with Armada Township, Richmond Township, and parts of St. Clair County.

Any district changes must be approved by Nov. 1.
