Impact of Government Shutdown on Selfridge Air National Guard Base

Selfridge Air National Guard Base has released information about how the government shut down will affect the base:

• Some 650 Title V civilians and Title 32 military technicians employed by the 127th Wing were sent home Tuesday, after conducting an orderly shutdown of operations. A minimum number of personnel in these statuses remain on duty, primarily fire department, security and air traffic control personnel.
  
• Approximately 150 active duty members of the 127th Wing at Selfridge remain on duty.
• The Selfridge Commissary is open on Oct. 1, but will be closed beginning Oct. 2 for the duration of the shutdown.
• The Selfridge Base Exchange and the base golf course, both of which operate primarily on revenue from operations, will be open during the shutdown.
• The Oct. 5-6 Unit Training Assembly for the 127th Wing, commonly referred to as drill weekend, has been cancelled. 127th Wing members are directed not to report to the October UTA.
• Most flying operations at Selfridge have been cancelled until further notice. The Selfridge air field will continue to be used for mission critical operations, such as Coast Guard search and rescue.
• Approximately 50 members of the 127th Wing are deployed overseas as of Oct. 1, and will continue their mission. About two dozen members of the 127th Security Forces Squadron are deployed to southwest Asia. About two dozen members of the 127th Air Refueling Group, with Selfridge-based KC-135 Stratotanker aircraft, are deployed to Guam.
• The 127th Wing’s web site, www.127wg.ang.af.mil , will not be updated during the shutdown. The Wing will continue to communicate some messages through the Wing’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/127thWing.
