Residents will have the opportunity to appeal their property assessments before the Board of Review in .

Homeowners who have not done any improvements had their taxable value increase 2.7 percent, according to city officials. If improvements were made to the house, homeowners would have seen a 2.7 percent increase with a value allocated to the improvement, according to Teri Socia, city assessor, who spoke at a recent City Council meeting.

Some homeowners on the lake, or canals, saw increases in value of 20 percent due to recent sales in those areas.

Conversely, owners of cottages saw a decrease of 25 percent because these home types were grouped together, Socia added. Homes on the mile roads, and major roads, were also grouped together.
