Proclamation presented to the National Association of Letter Carriers annual food drive on May 14. Volunteers needed beginning at noon. Call (586) 498-2850 for more information.

Proclamation presented to the Memorial Day Parade committee.

7:16 p.m.

8:15 p.m.

City council approves three year contract with Fire Fighters Local 1744. The three-year contract runs from July 1, 2011, through June, 30, 2014.

A request from the VFW Bruce Post 1146 to hold a Buddy Poppy sale May 5-7 at sites throughout the city.

8:28 p.m.

A request by the Michigan Parkinson foundation to hold a walk-a-thon and 5K run on May 14 at the South Lake Athletic Complex is approved by city council.

8:35 p.m.

The Shorewood Kiwanis received approval from city council to hold the annual Harper charity cruise from 5-9 p.m. Aug. 31.

8:38 p.m.

The Macomb Chamber Music Society and Shorewood Kiwanis receive approval to hold 12 concerts at Wahby Park on Jefferson. The concerts will be held at 7 p.m. Mondays, June 20-Aug. 22.

8:44 p.m.

Council approved a request from the St. Clair Shores Waterfront Environmental Committee to hold the annual Nautical Coast Clean-up from 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. May 22. Volunteers are needed and can learn more information by calling (586) 779-8777.

9:03 p.m.

A modification to the city's Facebook policy was approved by city council. The change would delete a prohibition on tobacco, alcohol and weapons and have it replaced with a prohibition on the illegal use of tobacco, alcohol and weapons.

9:11 p.m.

Council approves the postponement until next meeting projects that would be funded by proceeds by the sales of the $1 HUD homes. A request by councilman Rubino to obtain answers to questions about the projects that were posed during a previous meeting was also included in the motion.

9:24 p.m.

Council approves bid to refurbish two of the city's pumper fire trucks. Also approved was a request from the city clerk to enter into an agreement to purchase electronic poll book and laptop and accessories.

9:50 p.m.

Councilman Rubino stated that Oakland County had a large sewage discharge this weekend. Proposed sending a resolution to stop these for a clean lake. Also, Mayor Hison stated that 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 10 is the deadline for filing for November elections.
