40th District Court to Move to Temporary Facilities

The 40th District Court in St. Clair Shores will close at the end of the day Wednesday, Jan. 16, to allow for the relocation to temporary facilities in the Our Lady of Hope School while a new facility is constructed.

The 40th District Court in St. Clair Shores will close its current location at the end of the day Wednesday, Jan. 16, for the temporary relocation of the court while a new facility is constructed.

The court will be closed Thursday, Jan. 17, and Friday, Jan. 18, to allow the personnel to move operations to Our Lady of Hope School at 28837 Jefferson Ave. The school was formerly known as St. Gertrude School.

The court will be closed Monday, Jan. 21, in observance of Martin Luther King Day, and reopen Tuesday, Jan. 22, in the new location.

All of the court services including ticket payment, classes and court proceedings will be held in the new location. Telephone numbers and fax numbers will remain the same.

Carolyn Povich, 40th District Court Administrator, anticipates construction of the new $3.5 million building to last about 10 months with the new 15,500-square foot facility opening in the fall of 2013.
