VFW Honors Top Police Officer and Firefighter in the State from St. Clair Shores
St. Clair Shores is home to the firefighter and police officer of the year.
Two first responders from St. Clair Shores were recently named the top in the state by the Michigan Veterans of Foreign Wars.
More than 300 VFW Posts across the state nominated police, firefighters and emergency medical technicians for the award.
Gerald Gorski, the state surgeon for the Michigan VFW, recently presented the National Firefighter Award to Firefighter/EMT Geoffrey Schmueser and the National Law Enforcement Award to officer Lucas Balch.
Both men were nominated by VFW Post 1146. Past Post Commander Tara Perez, and current Post Commander Tim Litz, were present for the presentation.
