Trial Date Set for Bob Bashara

A Wayne County Judge has set a March 2014 trial date for Bob Bashara.

Bob Bashara was arraigned Friday in Wayne Circuit Court on murder charges in connection with killing his wife, Jane Bashara.

He was arraigned before Circuit Court Judge Vonda Evans, who set a final conference date of Dec. 11, and a trial date of March 3, 2014.

According to a story in The Detroit Free Press, a plea of not guilty was entered on his behalf. Evans reportedly also ordered that Bashara be housed at the Wayne County Jail so he can help his attorneys prepare for the trial. 

Bashara, who owned property in St. Clair Shores, is charged with: 

  • first degree murder
  • conspiracy to commit first degree murder
  • solicitation to commit murder
  • suborning of perjury during a capital trial
  • witness intimidation
  • obstruction of justice
The arraignment followed a preliminary exam which included five days of testimony from 30 witnesses, according toclickondetroit.com. Testimony included lurid details of his alternative sex life. The exam was twice delayed due to a prisoner stabbing a deputy at the courthouseand a power outage.
