Thieves Target Seniors in Fence Repair Scam

The following information is gathered from the St. Clair Shores Police Department. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

St. Clair Shores Police seeking four men who reportedly robbed the home of senior couple Aug. 19 in the 24000 block of Deanhurst.

According to a police report, the 82-year-old homeowner responded to a man who knocked at his door. The man stated that he was putting in a new fence and asked if he could take measurements in his yard. He also asked the homeowner to join him. 

While the homeowner was in the yard with the man, his 80-year-old wife was in the house working on a crossword puzzle when three men entered the house and ran into her bedroom and reportedly stole rings from a jewelry box. They then fled the house.

The man in the backyard then told the senior homeowner he needed to go back to his car. The men then fled in a newer model, blue Chevy truck.
