Illegal Immigrant Stopped by St. Clair Shores Police

The following information is gathered from the St. Clair Shores Police Department. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

Illegal immigrant stopped

While on patrol Nov. 19, a St. Clair Shores police officer observed a 23-year-old man walking along Downing Street with a suitcase and a full white plastic grocery bag. When an officer approached the man, he appeared confused and said he did not speak English. The officer spoke to the man in Spanish and learned he entered the country illegally and worked at a local restaurant. He added that he would be returning to Mexico. U.S. Customs and Border Enforcement was contacted and took the man into custody.

Smart phone taken

A 32-year-old St. Clair Shores resident reported Nov. 19 that she ordered an iPhone that was supposed to be delivered to their home in the 22800 block of Lake Blvd. A notice was left at the house, and a suspect is alleged to have taken it to a Verizon store in Sterling Heights and claimed it.

Bad check passed

A 24-year-old Detroit resident was arrested Nov. 19 at Citizens Bank on Mack Avenue for attempting to pass a bad check.
