St. Clair Shores Firefighters Make a Special Delivery

St. Clair Shores firefighters/paramedics recently responded to a 911 call for a baby that was being delivered at home.

A baby in St. Clair Shores didn't want to wait to go to the hospital, and gave his family a special Father's Day gift.

Alex Haggart recently contacted Patch to share to the story of the "special delivery" of his son Declan. 

Haggart said his wife woke him up in the early morning of June 14 to say she had to go to the hospital. She had bypassed the normal labor and was about to give birth.

He called 911 at 2 a.m. Friday, and within minutes, a St. Clair Shores ambulance was at his home. As he met the paramedics, they heard a scream from inside the  house - his wife had just given birth in the house.

Paramedics rushed to tend his wife Angla, and the baby, and rushed the family to the hospital. As this was happening their two other children slept through the entire incident.

The official birth certificate lists the time of birth at 2:08 a.m. Haggart added mom, baby and the family are doing fine.
