Shores Man Arrested in Ohio With $300K in Prescription Pills

A traffic stop in Ohio of a St. Clair Shores man led to the largest seizure of prescription pills in the history of the Ohio State High Patrol.

A St. Clair Shores man was arrested Thursday in Ohio and is  is facing felony drug charges after Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers seized 17,260 dosage units of prescriptions pills, worth approximately $338,000 following a traffic stop.

According to an Ohio State Highway Patrol press release, troopers received reports of a vehicle driving recklessly on I-75. The vehicle, a 2000 Oldsmobile Bravada, was stopped for a marked lanes violation.

The driver, Williams J. Hedges, 30, was initially arrested for operating while visually impaired. Troopers searched his vehicle and found a bag containing Methadone, Oxycodone, Hydrocodone and Alprazolam pills, in addition to 148 Suboxone Strips.

Hedges was charged with possession and trafficking in Schedule II substances, both are third-degree felonies. He was also charged with operating while visually impaired, marked lanes and safety belt violations.

This was the largest seizure of prescription pills in the history of the State Highway Patrol, the release stated.
