Shores Fire Responds To Three Blazes In Five Hours

St. Clair Shores firefighters responded to three blazes Wednesday night, and were assisted by police officers in transporting an injured dog to a veterinarian.

St. Clair Shores Fire Department responded to three fires in a five-hour span Wednesday night, including one that claimed the life of a senior citizen and a second blaze where a German Shepherd died.

According to fire department reports:

  • Firefighters responded to a garage fire in the 20300 block of Yale. During a search of the home, fire fighters found a 1 1/2 year old German Shepherd that was unresponsive. Police officers transported the dog to a local veterinarian, but the dog was unable to be saved. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
  • Firefighters responded about 10 p.m. to a blaze in a basement in Roseville.
  • At 2:18 a.m. Thursday, firefighters responded to a blaze in a residence in the Williamsburg condominiums. Neighbors called the fire in after noticing the windows looked black and the door was hot. An 81-year-old woman who lived in the condominium died. Her cause of death, and the cause of the fire, are under investigation. The fire did not spread to neighboring units.
