Shores Fire Department Welcomes New Firefighters, Promotes Others

The St. Clair Shores Fire Department welcomed 10 new firefighters and formally promoted 13 more Wednesday morning.

The swore in 10 new members Wednesday morning, also promoting 10 to the rank of lieutenant and three more to that of battalion chief.

The formal event drew around 100 friends, family and spectators at the Harper Avenue station, including Mayor Robert Hison.

City Manager Ben Hughes, who spoke at the ceremony's opening, said the new firemen have a lot to live up to.

"I can say with complete sincerity that this is the best fire department in the state," he said.
