Police Shooting Suspect Pleads Guilty in St. Clair Shores Robbery

A Detroit man who pleaded no contest in the fatal shooting of a Livonia police officer, pleaded guilty Monday to home invasion and gun charges.

A Detroit man will be sentenced Nov. 30 in Macomb Circuit Court for a in St. Clair Shores before he was involved in the fatal shooting of a Livonia police officer.

Terry Bowling and his brother, David, are alleged to have broken into a home on the 22000 block of Doremus between Jan. 16 and Jan. 17, hours before they were involved in the shooting in Walled Lake that took the life of Livonia Police Officer Larry Nehasil.

The 49-year-old was in court Monday before Judge Peter Maceroni and pleaded guilty to charges of home invasion and receiving and concealing a firearm.

During the short court appearance Bowling, who was wearing blue, jail-issued clothes, said little as he pleaded guilty and answered questions from the judge.

Bowling did ask to be sentenced in Macomb County prior to being sentenced on the second degree murder charges for the shooting death of Livonia police officer Larry Nehasil.

"Based upon your charges in Oakland County, I think you should be sentenced out there first," said Maceroni, who will be in contact with the Oakland County judge.

By pleading guility, Bowling could face up to 20 years in prison on the home invasion charges and up to 10 years in prison on firearm charges. But since this is his fourth felony conviction, the maximum sentence could be up to life in prison on both charges.

Investigators alleged Bowling and his brother were ransacking the house and stealing items including a handgun. Terry Bowling's ex-wife, Lisa Dunn, was allegedly circling the street waiting for them.

Dunn was given the gun and sold it for $40 and two rocks of crack cocaine, police said.

Bowling is being held in Oakland County Jail on the shooting charges. Dunn pleaded guilty in July to home invasion and receiving and concealing firearms. She was previously sentenced to 15 years in prison by Maceroni.
