The Michigan State Police are investigating a car-pedestrian traffic crash Tuesday morning on westbound I-94 near Little Mack.
Investigators report that about 6:05 a.m. a pedestrian attempted to cross the westbound lanes of I-94 and was struck by a Ford Fusion travelling in the left lane.
Michigan State Police stated Tuesday afternoon that information relayed to Detroit Regional Dispatch Center that the pedestrian had died at the scene was inaccurate.
Michigan State Police Lt. Michael Shaw said the victim had been transported to the hospital prior to the arrival of troopers. Once troopers responded to the hospital in an attempt to identify the victim, they learned of his condition.
Shaw added that victim is a white male, approximately 30-years-old, and is in critical condition. He is unable to communicate with troopers.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash, and were not interviewed at the scene, are asked to call the State Police at 248-584-5740.
