Police Blotter: Shores Officers Arrest Stabbing Suspect

Officers from St. Clair Shores arrested a suspect wanted in an early Sunday morning stabbing in Mount Clemens.

St. Clair Shores Police assisted the Macomb County Sheriff's Office in arresting a 26-year-old man wanted in an early Sunday morning stabbing in Mount Clemens.

The Sherrif's Office received a call about 6 a.m. Sunday that a 20-year-old man was stabbed multiple times in a Mount Clemens home after an argument.

According to a release from the Sheriff's Office, the 26-year-old suspect from Warren would not allow a 30-year-old female resident of the home to leave. This led to an argument and the alleged stabbing, according the release.

The alleged suspect, Brian Monasterski, of Warren, allegedly then fled in the homeowner’s vehicle. The Sheriff's Office released a bulletin with a description of the vehicle.

Officers from St. Clair Shroes spotted the vehicle on I-94, and after a short pursuit into Warren, Monasterski was arrested.

Monasterski was arraigned Monday in 41-B District Court on assault with intent to murder and unlawful imprisonment charges. He is being held in the Macomb County Jail without bond. If convicted, he could face life in prison.

The stabbing victim was transported to McLaren Macomb Hospital and is in stable condition. Detectives are investigating a possible motive for this incident.
