Police Blotter: Shoplifters Arrested, Counterfeit Money Passed

The following information is gathered from the St. Clair Shores Police Department. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

Flowers, iPad stolen from car

A 17-year-old New Baltimore resident reported to police that pink flowers, driver's license, iPad and camera were stolen from her car parked in the 30500 block of Harper. A witness observed a red pickup truck, with a cap on the back, pull into the lot, and the driver was seen walking up to a couple of cars.

Police are investigating a series of attempted thefts from Kroger on .

  • About 4 p.m., May 9, a 43-year-old Clinton Township woman was arrested after she attempted to steal a bottle of vodka. 
  • On May 11, a 46-year-old Harrison Township allegedly tried to leave the store without paying for items including crab cakes, potatoes, a magazine and dish soap.
  • A 23-year-old from Detroit was also arrested on May 11 after she allegedly attempted to steal items including cookies, granola bars, trail mix, licorice, Swedish fish and Milk Duds.
  • About 9 p.m. May 11, a 62-year-old Roseville woman is alleged to have attempted to leave the store without paying for ranch dressing, honey, peanut butter, cheese, Advil and Benadryl.

Counterfeit money passed

A woman who was running a garage sale in the 22500 block of Van reported a customer purchased two chairs using a $50 and $20 bill. Afterwards, she felt that the $50 bill was counterfeit and took it to a local bank. The bank confirmed it was counterfeit. 

Catalytic converter stolen

A 58-year-old resident in the 500 block of Sunset Lane reported the catalytic converter was stolen May 11 from his car.

Business break-in

The owner of Little Z BBQ reported that someone pried open the door and opened the cash drawer. Nothing was reported stolen.

Van stolen

A 48-year-old resident reported May 11 that his Chrysler minivan was stolen from the 27100 block of Grove.
