Police Blotter: Residents Urged to Watch for Graffiti Vandals

Police on alert after graffiti is found spray-painted on signs on the north side of the city. Police are also investigating copper thefts from vacant buildings.

St. Clair Shores police are asking residents to report any suspicious activity in their neighborhood after a rash of copper thefts and graffiti vandalism to signs in the city.

Police report a number of signs in the 13 Mile and Harper area had "bur" sprayed-painted on them with red paint. 

The signs were defaced with graffiti overnight, according to Cherie Mascarello, police community resource officer.

Police are also investigating several home invasions in St. Clair Shores and Roseville in which thieves broke into vacant structures and stole copper, according to Mascarello.

Police also sent out an alert to the community through Nixle, the online messaging service, about the incidents.

If anyone has any information about the incidents, they are asked to call police at 586-445-5300. If residents see a crime in progress, they should call 911.
