Police Blotter: Police Arrest Alleged Liquor Thief

Police have arrested shoplifters from Kmart, CVS along with an alleged tool thief.

Repeat liquor thief nabbed

Police arrested a 34-year-old Roseville man early Sunday morning after he allegedly left the CVS at 11 Mile and Harper without paying for two bottles of Johnny Walker Black, Absolut Citron and Ciroc vodka. David Meatte was arrested outside the store and arraigned Monday on one count of retail fraud. He is also alleged to have taken six bottles of liquor from the same CVS early Saturday, but fled the scene. He was not charged for that alleged theft. He is free on $1,000 bond.

Officers were called Saturday afternoon to after a 49-year-old Detroit man was detained after allegedly shoplifting bottles of cologne. Desmond Kimbrough is alleged to have selected boxes of cologne and put them in the a cart. He proceeded to the layaway area where he opened the boxes and placed them in his jacket. Kimbrough was arraigned Monday on a retail fraud charge. Kimbrough is free on $300 bond.

Tool thief

A 28-year-old St. Clair Shores man was arrested Sunday afternoon after allegedly stealing tools from a garage in the 21600 block of Cedar. Robert Benitez is charged with larceny in a building for allegedly going into a garage and filling two grocery bags with tools from the garage. He is being held in the Macomb County Jail on $5,000 bond.

Compact discs taken

Police arrested a 20-year-old Detroit woman Saturday night after she allegedly tried to steal two compact discs from The woman is alleged to have selected an Alicia Keys and Waka Flocka compact disc and placed them in a baby seat. She then walked into the children's section, removed the discs from the baby seat and unwrapped them. She is alleged to have then concealed the discs back in the car seat. She was arrested as she left the store. Police are investigating the case.
