Police Blotter: Officers Investigate Fight at Secretary of State Office

The following information is gathered from the St. Clair Shores Police Department. Arrests do not indicate conviction.

St. Clair Shores Police are investigating a fight Thursday at the Secretary of State office on Harper which forced the temporary closure of the facility.

Police were called about 1:35 p.m. Thursday to the office for a report of fight between two groups of men which reportedly started in the lobby and spread into the parking lot.

When the men were in the parking lot, a 21-year-old from Warren allegedly pulled a gun on one of the men from the other group and threatened them. He punched one of the men, and then two other men from his group joined in the fight.

Once the fight ended, both groups reportedly went back into the office where the two groups continued to yell at each other and the fight resumed. Two of the attackers fled the Secretary of State office and drove away in a waiting vehicle.

Responding officers spotted and stopped the vehicle.

Fred Woodhams, a Secretary of State spokesman, said the office was briefly closed and added that no employees or innocent bystanders were injured in the altercation.

St. Clair Shores Police are continuing the investigation, and charges are pending.
