Man accused in fan attack pleads no contest

A 37-year-old St. Clair Shores man plead no contest in Macomb Circuit Court to charges that he struck his wife with a fan and broke her ribs.

is alleged to have struck his wife with a nearly 3-foot-long floor fan across the back. The May 26 attack is alleged to have occurred in the bedroom of their Arrowhead Road home.

His wife was hospitalized for five days, and suffered three broken ribs and a collapsed lung. 

Kakos plead no contest to assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder. A bond reduction motion was approved, and he is free on personal bond. He is to have no contact with his wife. He will have a bond hearing on Nov. 16 before Judge James Biernat.

Kakos is also facing a vicious dog charge in 40th District Court. He is scheduled to have pretrial on that case on Nov. 16.
