Police Blotter: Copper Theft, Home Invasion

The following information was supplied by the St. Clair Shores Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Copper thefts

St. Clair Shores police are investigating a pair of copper thefts reported on Jan. 25. Officers were called to a home in the 22300 block of Maxine and a home in the 20100 block of Parkside after receiving reports that someone had broken into the homes and stole copper pipes.

The owner of the on Harper called police on Jan. 25 after the driver of a white pickup pumped $118 worth of gas and fled without paying.

Home invasion

A 49-year-old resident reported Jan. 26 that someone had entered their home in the 23000 block of Pleasant and may have stolen checks. The suspect is believed to have been scared away by dogs barking. 

Attempted robbery

A 25-year-old Harrison Township man is being held in the Macomb County Jail on $25,000 bond for allegedly attempting to steal items Jan. 26 from the on Harper. Jessie Hillis is alleged to have selected items including shampoo, condoms, energy drink, tweezers and baby formula, and conceal them in his jacket. He was arrested after he left the store without paying for the items. He is charged with retail fraud and has a outstanding warrant from another community.

Antique theft

Police are investigating the theft of an iron cross Jan. 26 from . The owner of the store called police after a man, about 6 feet tall, 140 pounds with brown hair, and a woman, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, with short black hair, entered the store and stole the iron cross from a display case and fled the scene.
