Police Arrest Suspected Purse Snatcher Who Dragged a Woman

Police arrest a 52-year-old Clinton Township man who police alleged grabbed an elderly woman's purse, and dragged her alongside his car as he fled.

A 52-year-old Clinton Township man who police allege grabbed the purse of a 94-year-old woman in the parking lot of the CVS Pharmacy on Harper, and then dragged her along side his car as he fled, has been arraigned on robbery charges.

Police allege Danny Cobb entered the parking lot of the CVS Pharmacy on Harper, at Ridgeway, and pulled alongside a 94 year-old female from Grosse Pointe Farms as she was entering into her vehicle.

While in his car, Cobb reportedly grabbed her purse that was being carried on her shoulder. He began to drive away, and dragged the woman along the pavement alongside his vehicle in the parking lot until she released her purse.

Cobb fled and the Grosse Pointe Farms woman was taken to the hospital and treated for injuries she sustained to her head and hip, according to police.

A witness was able to provide a license plate of the suspect vehicle, which led to the arrest of Cobb.

He was charged with larceny from a person, which is a 10-year felony. He was arraigned Aug. 7 before 40th District Court Judge Mark Fratarcangeli.  Bond was set at $100,000. He is being held in the Macomb County Jail pending an Aug. 20 preliminary exam in the 40th District Court.
