Optimists Recognize Members of the St. Clair Shores Fire Department
Just hours after fighting a fire at Gilbert's Lodge, members of the community joined with the Optimist Club of St. Clair Shores to recognize members of the St. Clair Shores Fire Department.
The Optimist Club of St. Clair Shores recognized members of the St. Clair Shores Fire Department Thursday at the First Responders Appreciation Breakfast at Lakeland Banquet Centre.
Members of the department, their families and leaders in the community attended the breakfast, which was sponsored by 1800BOARDUP and Concraft Inc.

- St. Clair Shores Fire Department Honor Guard Member Driver/Engineer Chad Hyvonen for his leadership, guidance and support of the Fire Department following the death of Lt. Jim Nichols last December.
- Firefighter/paramedics Derek Haarala, Dan Sebastian and Adam Walleman were honored by the Optimist Club of St. Clair Shores for their participation in this year’s American Lung Association Fight for Air Climb Firefighter Challenge. These firefighters donned their full gear and climbed the more than 1,000 steps at Detroit’s Renaissance Center in March raising money for the American Lung Association.
- The St. Clair Shores Fire Department recognized the retirement of Water Jenuwine.
