Following the shooting, multiple police vehicles blocked the road, and yellow police tape blocked access to the two-story home where the shooting occurred about 7:30 p.m. stunned neighbors reported.

"It's a quiet neighborhood," said Loretta Turczynski, who lives next door to the home where the shooting occurred.

Turczynski said the home had been under construction in recent months and was being remodeled. The new homeowners were supposed to move in today, she said, and it wasn't until her husband heard a loud "hammer" sound that they became concerned.

"I heard a lot of commotion and a lot of yelling," the 34-year resident of Recreation reported.

It wasn't until an ambulance and police vehicles arrived that she realized the gravity of the situation.

St. Clair Shores Police said there was an "active investigation" into the incident. Family members, and an interpeter, were seen being taken from the home to the police station.
