Man Accused of Eyelid Biting Gets Bond Reduction

Macomb Circuit Court Judge grants request for bond reduction after emotional plea from his wife, who was the victim of the alleged attack.

A 33-year-old Clinton Township man alleged to have bitten off his wife's eyelid was finally successful Wednesday in having his bond reduced.

The lawyer for Rahsaan Thedford, who is is accused of  in an alleged Mother's Day assaulted, had tried repeatedly to have his client's $100,000 bond reduced.

Macomb Circuit Court Judge Diane Druzinski made the decision following emotional testimony by Thedford's wife, who asked for the lower bond and said that she lied to officers about the incident in her St. Clair Shores home.

His wife, who Patch is not naming because she was the vicitim of the alleged assault, said that she does not fear her husband and needs his help to raise their twins, who have cerebral palsy.

"I need help," she tearfully told the judge.

She added that Thedford also helped taking the twins to physical therapy.

Over the objections of Macomb County Assistant Prosecutor Steve Fox, the judge granted the request for bond reduction to $50,000, or 10 percent. 

She also reminded Thedford that he is not to have any physical, verbal or electronic contact with his wife if he makes bond.

A trial date was also set for Sept. 20 before Druzinski.
